Fanningberg ski resort is situated in the Lungau district in Salzburg, Austria, this cosy resort is home to 24 kilometres of slopes and 0.8 kilometres of ski routes for skiing and snowboarding.
This is a small resort but shouldn’t be over looked, as it is a fabulous place that offers a wonderful skiing experience: a hidden gem within the Austrian mountains. There are 5 operational lifts to take guest up to their chosen peak between elevations of 1,497 metres and 2,115 metres (Fanninghohe), at 2,020 metres (Frischinghoe) guests are able to sit back and enjoy a bite and beverage at Gamsstadl Pizza Stadl. In total, there are over 8 eateries and bars to choose from, and another recommendation is Gamsstadl Fanigberg which is a family restaurant, a quaint cottage theme with a delicious menu and tasty beers to try, there’s a cosy welcoming atmosphere where everyone is welcomed.
The resort caters for all skiing and snowboarding abilities ‘easy’ green runs dominate with 11.1 kilometres of slopes to practice on, ‘intermediate’ blue/red runs have 5.8 kilometres of terrain to enjoy and ‘difficult’ black runs have 7.1 kilometres to appreciate, the longest run is Hohen-Schiweg, it is 4.5 kilometres in length, the most difficult run is the Weißpriacher-Steilhang, an extremely steep slope with a length of 1.4 kilometres. If you want to travel further afield and explore on foot, there is a free ski bus to transport guests to numerous surrounding villages, one highlight here is that the Fanningberg resort is northeast facing so the sun is always shining down on the slopes.
