Mittelberg is a village located in Klienwalsertal, Austria. It sits at an altitude of 1,250 metres and is surrounded by beautiful peaks that reach up to 2,600 metres high. This Austrian valley is only accessible to skiers via Germany. There is a wide choice of different accommodation.
The village of Mittelberg is popular during the winter months because of the various activities on offer, as well as the fact that there is a community of locals who are always friendly and welcoming. Kleinwalsertal itself boasts 124km of slopes and there are also some beautiful hiking trails around the peaks.
The ski area for Mittelberg is called Walmendingerhorn and the gondola to get there leaves directly from the village itself. Most of the slopes within the area are red, so it’s a suitable destination for the more experienced skiers. Next to Mittelberg is a ski resort by the name of Hirschegg which has plenty of blue runs, which is a more popular choice for beginners to intermediate skiers. There are also other ski resorts in the area with more diverse runs, including Riezlern and Sollereck.
Mittelberg is a favourite for its child-friendliness and there are plenty of childcare facilities for younger children who are unable to ski.
