In the Austrian region of Stubai can be found the Stubai Glacier (Stubaier Gletscher) ski resort, where skiers and snowboarders are spoilt for choice with 38km of slopes and 21km of marked ski routes. There are 22 ski lifts for guests to use when navigating the resort, which is at a height of between 1,697m and 3,212m above sea level.
Situated on the Stubai Glacier, the high-altitude slopes are practically guaranteed snow all winter long, which makes it ideal for locals and tourists who would appreciate a large area to explore. In total, there are 19km of easy blue slopes, 15km of intermediate red slopes and 4km of difficult black slopes. This balance ensures a universal appeal of skiers and snowboarders, from complete beginners to winter sports enthusiasts with years of experience. The Fernauferner slope starts with an awe-inspiring view of the Stubaital, and is accessible via the Fernau chairlift. The longest slope in the resort runs straight from the Wildspitz mountain station to the base station, at 10km in length.
In addition, the resort is great for families, given the Stubai Zoo Snowpark where children can have fun (and freestylers can enjoy the pro-line courses) and The BIG Family Ski-camp that offers daycare facilities for younger children.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area to feed hungry mouths, including Schaufelspitz Gourmet Restaurant for some delicious local cuisine and Schneekristall Pavillon for the best après-ski on the mountain. The resort is also just 45 minutes from Innsbruck.
