Gressoney-la-Trinité is a characterful Italian village located within the Monterosa ski area, giving access to 180km of pistes ranging from 1200m to 2970m in altitude.
The resort itself sits at 1640m, alongside the village of Gressoney St Jean, 7km down the valley. Authentic and serene, these neighbouring villages are often considered to be among the Alps’ best-kept secrets, thanks to their proximity to a huge amount of excellent skiing.
The Monterosa ski area mostly attracts intermediate to advanced skiers as it is mainly made up of red runs. It also boasts plenty of unspoiled off-piste skiing and heliskiing opportunities. In particular, the Indren cable car gives access to many off-piste routes including a more difficult run down to Alagna (for which guides should be hired).
Cruising down to Gressoney-la-Trinité from the heights of the Monterosa area is stunning - a breathtaking mix of open slopes higher up, followed by beautiful woodland runs as you reach the village. The resort is popular with cross-country skiers, with long trails including a 25km route from Gressoney St Jean.
Aside from skiing, there are many things to enjoy in the resort. Amongst the charming, cobbled streets of the village are some renowned restaurants, such as the gourmet Castore Lounge. There are also several shops and museums which explore the rich history of the village.
Turin airport has the closest access to the resort, 1 hour and 30 minutes’ drive away. Milan (2 hours away) and Geneva (3 hours away) are within reach too.
