What could be more appealing than a ski property in Verbier?

There are several resorts that offer amazing views coupled with stunning alpine chalets but is there any better than Verbier in Switzerland?

Property prices ranging from $500,000 USD up to a staggering $30,000,000 USD offer a plethora of golden opportunities.  According to some local estate agents, if you are after a return on your investment this is probably not the place.  However, if you are after a stunningly beautiful property in one of the most prestigious resorts in the world then Verbier is incredibly hard to beat. Could this be the ultimate legacy for your family mountain home?

The first lift was installed in Verbier in 1946 and over the next few years it became an established place to ski while remaining a small and charming alpine village. It was not until the ski boom in the 1960’s that really put Verbier on the map and it has gone from strength to strength ever since, now wearing the crown as one of the world’s greatest and most exclusive ski resorts.

Verbier is located at 1500m altitude with the drive up offering the most spectacular views down the valley right up to the Mont fort glacier at 3300m, making it a guarantee for snow with its high altitude and glacier skiing opportunities.

As the largest ski resort in Switzerland, 4 Vallées (or Les Quatre Vallées) has a lot on offer for visitors and residents looking for a vibrant destination. With 412km of slopes across 6 resorts located in four valleys, this resort has a great deal for everybody to enjoy.

Six interconnected resorts mean that there is a huge surface area to explore, with each area offering something a little different for visitors and residents. The resorts include Verbier, la Tzoumaz, Bruson, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon. They are easy enough to travel in between, which means one day you can be enjoying the views of the Matterhorn from Thyon, and the next, sampling the nightlife in Verbier.

The elevation ranges from between 821 and 3,330 meters, resulting in a wide variety of landscapes and terrains to explore. Steep powder snow slopes are ideal for advanced skiers to challenge themselves, and there are many more slopes that are perfect for intermediate skiers and snowboarders as well. If you’d like to try something other than skiing, there are a great deal of additional activities on offer, including dogsledding, hiking, snowshoe trails, paragliding and snow golf to name a few. Residents and visitors have little chance of getting bored on their trip to 4 Vallées.

If you are looking for a cheap getaway or an affordable one-bedroom apartment, then Verbier may not the place for you. If you are looking for A-listers, gourmet restaurants, a vibrant après ski, designer boutiques and alpine charm then look no further. Prince William and Kate Middleton famously spent a romantic break at the Swiss resort in 2012, Prince Harry has often visited the resort and Britain’s most famous billionaire, Sir Richard Branson has his own property here.

Not only does Verbier offer 412km of slopes for the ski season, there is also a very active summer season with many people choosing the resort for mountain biking, hiking, paragliding, electric biking and general relaxing whilst taking in the incredible views.

In short, there is not much that Verbier cannot offer you if you are feeling frivolous with your earnings. If there is a place that you want to spend some money and buy that piece of the mountain you always dreamed of then Verbier is certainly an excellent option. Only problem you will have is keeping your friends at bay.
