The ski resort Arêches (Beaufort) is located in Beaufortain, France and is know as ‘The Gem of the Alps’. Lying in multiple regions and stretching over 50 kilometres of slopes and elevation ranging between 1,050 and 2,300 meters, this resort has a slope for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.
If you are just beginning to learn how to ski, the resort has 15 kilometres of ‘easy’ blue runs and flat trails, with Le Bersend ideal for those who are just starting out. There are 20 kilometres of ‘intermediate’ red runs ‘Les Aralles’ is a superb slope to give those with a little more skill that extra challenge. If it’s extreme exhilaration you are after, then why not try ‘Grande Combe’ which is one of the 15 kilometres of ‘expert’ black runs. On the other hand, the snow garden is perfect for children aged between 3 to 5 years old, it’s a great place for young skiers to find their feet and access the mini lifts
Alongside the wide variety of slopes, there is a range of other activities, such as snow or ice races, horse and carriage rides, snowshoeing, alpine skiing hiking and paragliding. Just outside the resort there is a library, cinema, as well as street shows, pubs and an array of restaurants serving traditional local dishes. ‘The Panoramic’ is a superb restaurant with a terrace which boasts outstanding views of Mont Blanc.
