One of the largest and most popular ski destinations in Europe, Les 3 Vallées or ‘the three valleys’ is located in the Tarentaise area of France, and is a magnificent connected skiing area that includes 600km of slopes across 8 resorts.
The Saint-Bon valley is home to Courchevel ski resort (a large resort comprised of four smaller connected resorts), the Les Allues valley includes Méribel, Méribel-Mottaret and Brides-les-Bains, whilst the Belleville Valley includes St-Martin-de-Belleville, Les Menuires and Val Thorens.
These world-class resorts, amongst others, mean that Les 3 Vallées is a vibrant and popular area, with visitors able to capitalise on the interconnected resorts and travel in between via ski lifts, ski runs and cable cars. The elevation of skiing areas varies between 1,100 and 3,230 metres so there is truly something for every skier, with plenty of slopes to satisfy complete beginners all the way up to those of an advanced level. Skiing highlights include Blanchot (a great all-round green run in Meribel), Jerusalem (a famous red run in Val Thorens/ St-Martin-de-Belleville) and Creux (a pleasant red run in Courchevel).
On the whole, the resort attracts a diverse customer base, with those wanting to ski, relax, go on an adventure and those wanting to keep family entertained. As Europe’s largest connected resort, Les 3 Vallées has something for everyone, with plenty of restaurants and shops within easy reach. The area has an established après-ski culture with bars such as La Folie Douce in Val Thorens and Le Bar 360 that are well-renowned by visitors and residents. Covering a large area, the resort will cater to every taste, and residents will be spoilt for choice from the moment they arrive.
