The combined resorts of Tignes and Val d’Isére are considered to be some of the best in the region. Located in Tarentaise area of France (the same as Les 3 Vallées), these two resorts have over 300km of ski runs between them, with an additional 20km of routes to be discovered.
Offering a huge range of difficulty for skiers and snowboarders, visitors and residents are lucky enough to enjoy an elevation between 1,550 and 3,456 metres, which means a diverse range of slopes and courses for those of mixed ability. For intermediate blue runs head to the Tignes Le Lac/LAiguille side of the mountain where you can find runs such as Corniche and Percee Neige. For more challenging slopes, the Grand Motte is the place to be for the Dahu and the Double M red runs.
Both resorts are particularly well-known for freeriding, attracting a huge number of guests every season who make the most of snow parks, halfpipes and valley runs. In addition, there are 848 snow cannons to ensure that over half of slopes are kept topped up with artificial snow.
Tignes is renowned for having a mixed community of families and those wanting to sample the aprés-ski nightlife, with areas dedicated to each pursuit in the resort. There is a wellness area in Lagon for those needing to relax, as well as an array of shops and amenities just a walk away. Val d’Isére on the other hand has an aquasportive centre and a local village that has shops, restaurants and bars in abundance.
