Set in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, Telluride is a world class ski resort surrounded by breathtaking scenery as well as being the winner of Conde Nast’s traveller's choice resort in 2019 and described by Forbes as one of the best ski vacations in the US.
It’s a mystery to us why this perfectly preserved Victorian town, with it’s modern sister Mountain Village, isn’t top of everyone’s USA ski list and we think it’s only a matter of time before this corner of Colorado becomes a real hotspot. We’ve some amazing properties here too, so read on to discover why Telluride could be your dream ski location.

Telluride and Mountain Village - the perfect balance of old and new
The decision to preserve the characterful old town by keeping all modern buildings in nearby Mountain Village is a stroke of genius that gives Telluride its charm. The main street is a colourful, quaint Victorian mining town, perfect for whiling away a few hours. It's packed with great places to eat, cozy bars and an abundance of old world charm. There’s a good choice of properties here including this beautifully restored historic home which is an ideal retreat with tremendous appeal for the rental market.
Just a stone’s throw away is Mountain Village, modelled on a European style ski resort and home to a larger hotels, shopping, eateries and an abundance of activities like hiking, fishing and bouldering. Best of all, Telluride and Mountain Village are linked by a free to use gondola, so you can enjoy your day on the mountain, grab something to eat or drink before being whisked back home.
Skiing for all abilities
Many resorts seek to offer skiing for all skill levels, but one of the best things about Telluride is it’s truly balanced variety of terrain. Beginners aren’t confined to the base of the slopes - they get to enjoy the beauty of the mountain with a 4.5 mile run from just below the summit. Experts get to challenge themselves on runs like Galloping Goose or Millions and the resort's terrain parks are designed to build skills and confidence.
These carefully curated zones offer a range of jumps from 10 to 50 feet, cannons, closeouts and barrel rolls as well as the famous Pick Ax Rail in the advanced terrain park
Hike to Terrain
Extra challenge comes from the range of hike to terrain trails, like Bald Mountain where you can take in the stunning views of Alta or the spectacular terrain of Palmyra Peak, at a height of 13,320 feet. Expert only Gold Hill chutes take your skiing to another level, and the sheer variety of terrain means there’s always something new to aim for.
The lift system means you can tailor your hike to your skill and fitness levels, choosing anything from a ten minute hike to Black Iron Bowl, or aim higher with a one and a half hour hike to Palmyra Peak.
Year round resort
We could write reams about the nordic skiing and mountain village trail, as well as the vast array of summer activities like mountain biking, canopy adventure, golf and white water rafting, not to mention the choice of places to eat from Colorado’s number one burger spot to top class mountain dining.
