Nestled beneath La Meije, the magnificent 3983m peak renowned for being the last major summit in the Alps to be climbed, Le Chazelet is the ideal resort for a family-friendly ski holiday. Uniquely placed to take in those stunning views of the peak and its surrounding glaciers, the resort enjoys plenty of sunshine.
Le Chazelet has 7 kilometres of piste and a total of 9 ski lifts. One of the reasons it is such a great family resort is the range of difficulty on the piste. At the highest elevation of 2170m are more challenging runs for advanced skiers, with runs at a lower altitude to satisfy those at beginner and intermediate levels.
Within the Pays de la Meije area is the neighbouring resort of La Grave, internationally renowned for off-piste skiing because of its unspoiled terrain and the amount of snowfall afforded by its altitude of nearly 4000 metres.
It is possible to go ski touring between Le Chazelet and La Grave, or it is easily accessible by car or coach. With only one marked piste in La Grave, it really is a mountain playground for more extreme skiers.
A small resort, Le Chazelet has a cosy, village atmosphere. Ski lessons, for adults and children, are offered by ESF, as well as other activities including snowshoeing, telemarking and snow hikes - visitors can even try the "Flèche" giant slalom.
The combination of true high mountain skiing, breathtaking landscapes and an authentic character make Le Chazelet an unbeatable resort.
