Menthières resort information
The small hamlet of Methières can be found close to the more popular village of Chezery-Forens. Nestled at the bottom of the Valserine Valley in the Jura mountains, this resort is popular with a wide range of skiers travelling from various locations. Head east and you will be met by the National Nature Reserve of High Jura Mountain, a little further and you will reach the Swiss border.
The Methières ski resort lies at an elevation of 1070 to 1526m with a total of 7.5km of slopes! The slopes house nine pistes of varying length, perfectly accommodating all levels of ability. 4.3km are aimed at beginners, 3km are suitable for intermediate skiers and a further 0.2km are intended especially for the advanced skier.
These slopes can be easily accessed by skiers via a chair lift or one of four ski lifts. Methières also offers visitors opportunities for snowshoeing and secured sledging which can be accessed on foot or via a moving walkway.
Following a busy day on the slopes, guests can cosy up for something to eat in the local La Gentiane restaurant in the heart of Methières. Alternatively, they may wish to head into Chezery-Forens to visit Le Relais des Moine where they can tuck into a selection of French and Swiss cuisines. Chezery-Forens is also home to the Abbey dairy where guests who rise early can see the traditional Bleu de Gex blue cheese being made and even taste some of the produce.
