Mijoux is part of the Monts Jura ski resort in the Valserine Valley and is just over an hour’s drive from Geneva or Annecy airport. There are 29 ski lifts which span across Mijoux-La Faucille, and the Col de La Faucille can be accessed in this way. From the Col de Faucille, there are further lifts to Mont Rond which is one of the highest of the Jura Mountains situated at 1,543m above sea level.
The slopes near Mijoux are mostly for downhill skiers but cross-country skiing can be accessed at La Vattay, which is further up the valley, but still in the Mijoux area. The resort altitude is 900m above sea level and the highest lift is at 1,680m above sea level. The slopes in the resort aggregate 15.9km of skiing and are mostly of an easy difficulty. More challenging slopes can be found near Lelex or Crozet.
Mijoux provides the option of partaking in many different activities besides skiing. From the Col de la Faucille, you can sledge through the surrounding pine forests, and hike across the snowshoeing trails.
There is also a multimedia dome at the Col de la Faucille, which is an interactive art centre with panoramic screen displays so you can discover the history of the peaks of the Jura mountains. There is a jewellery shop and museum in the village of Mijoux, and there are two restaurants situated at the base of Col de la Faucille, just a short walk from the village.
