Bláfjöll resort information

Blafjoell is located in South Iceland, and is the perfect winter sports getaway. With 15km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding available, this is the largest ski resort in Iceland. There are 15 lifts available and elevations between 460m and 700m.

The capital city of Reykjavik is only 30km from the slopes so exploring is very easy to do whilst there, with some beautiful sights to see. Many of the residents from the capital use the resort as it is known locally to be the best. As for the views from the slopes, if you get to the Kongsgil mountain station you’re able to appreciate the views which include the volcanic landscape and the ocean.

There are all levels of slopes available here from the basic slopes, learning and confidence building technique teaching to more difficult slopes for experienced skiers. Easy runs have 10km of runs, whilst intermediate and experienced skiers are able to enjoy 5km of slopes. Valley runs are open, and all slopes lead to the base station in Blafjoell. The longest run available is the Kóngsgil-Bláfjöll which is 2.5km and the most difficult run is 0.7km in length. Whist the parents enjoy these runs, the children can have fun in the snow park that is open for the whole winter season.
