Grimentz is a quintessential Swiss Alpine village featuring old chalets, traditional stables, and a few hotels. Visitors encounter dark chocolate wooden chalets embellished with dozens of crimson geranium flowers. It is the most popular resort in the Val d’Anniviers. The village has experienced tremendous infrastructural and real estate growth in recent years making it an attractive destination for holiday home buyers.
Grimentz is part of a cable car network connecting four resorts from Chandolin to Zinal. It is linked to nearby towns such as Sierre by road and rail. Recently, there has been a spate of amenity developments including public saunas and swimming pools as well as massage rooms, fitness centres, glamping sites and tennis courts. There are also children lifts, parks and pistes. However, the best investments were reserved for skiers with news lifts that drop people on the ski area above the valley making skiing attractive even to amateurs. If that is not impressive enough, there is a free bus service offered to all visitors.
Living in Grimentz and things to do
Grimentz offers skiers a chance to explore the pristine pistes at the heart of the Swiss Alps. Skiers can explore the 11 lifts and 21 piste runs at the resort. The skiing zone rises to 3000 meters during the winter months with 1400m of vertical descent. Skiing activities include winter hiking paths, cross-country skiing, and a sledge run. Skiers can choose between red, blue and black runs depending on their skill levels. For the thrill-seekers, there is a whopping 200km of off-piste skiing sites to explore!
Tourists can sample traditional valais food in a range of eateries including some high-altitude restaurants. Those with a finer taste can enjoy other culinary delights on offer including glacier wine and rye bread from the village bakery. Visitors can sneak into the town to find a cellar where white wine matures inside old barrels made of Larchwood. The cellar is a glowing tribute to the nomadic past of village residents. Legend has it that the wine would only be served when the bishop made his annual visit.

Investment potential in Grimentz
Grimentz has retained its antiquated chalets though the resort area has experienced extensive development in recent years. Nevertheless, most of the new structures conform to traditional architectural designs. Real estate developers have maintained this tradition by constructing chalets of varying sizes and sophistication.
Investors should not be dissuaded by the conservative architectural styles at the resort as Alpine vacationing has experienced tremendous growth in recent years due to high demand from Asian and Middle Eastern vacationers. Moreover, the resort is located two-hour drive from golfing and leisure destinations such as Lake Geneva.
