Gorky Gorod ski resort can be found in Krasnaya Polyana, a stunningly picturesque mountain village in South Russia. It is located just 40km from the seaside town of Sochi, which hosted both the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Krasnaya Polyana is part of the Sochi National Park territory, one of Russia's first biosphere zones, and is in close quarters with two other top Russian ski resorts - Rosa Khutor and Gazprom Mountain Resort.
The slopes of Gorky Gorod ski resort can be found at an impressive elevation of 960m–2300m. With a total of 30km of slopes, there are slopes for all stages: 7.5km are classed as easy, 20km are intermediate, and there are also 2.5km of difficult slopes. 13% of these slopes have the ability to make artificial snow, and the resort has a total of 62 snow cannons.
Gorky Gorod's 11 ski lifts run for 11.2km in total and have a carrying capacity of 26,400 passengers per hour. These lifts include four 8-person gondolas and 7 chair lifts. There's a ski school for beginners and those who want a bit more instruction, and you can even partake in night skiing.
Situated just 1-2 hours' drive from the local airports, the resort is easy to get to by car or public transport. The nearest train stations are a 15-30 minute walk away, dependent on the route. In the surrounding area, you will find plenty of restaurants, bars, hotels, and many other attractions to give you a break from the slopes.
