One of the most snow sure resorts in the whole of Europe is the ski resort Ruka, which can be found in Northern Ostrobothnia (Pohjois-Pohjanmaa) Northern Finland. Being one of the Largest resorts in Finland and only a 34-minute transfer from Kuusamo Airport, it is a fantastic resort that consists of 18.9 kilometres of slopes of varied terrain set between elevations of 291 and 492 metres.
When it comes to skiing the whole of the resort can be accessed on 9.1 kilometres of easy slopes. Children and beginners will feel at home in the Ruka Village area where there are wide and manageable slopes with beginner lifts as well as the Ski School Ruka, which is the oldest and largest ski school in Finland. In addition to this there is also the Rosa and Rudolf Family Park. Intermediates skiers have their choice of over 7 kilometres of red runs and experts can have endless fun on 2.8 kilometres of difficult slopes. There are some difficult runs leading towards Pessari, the Mogul run number 3 has to be the most demanding of slopes in the resort and is 0.3 kilometres of steep and exhilarating terrain. Night skiing is also a great bonus for those who want to ski on floodlit slopes which remain open until 23:00.
Once guests have enjoyed an active day on the slopes, they can decamp to the relaxed atmosphere of one of the many restaurants in the area. Try Riipisen Ravintola for delicious food, or the Twin Peak In Ruka Village and enjoy its delicious menu and extensive wine list for plenty of après-ski drinks and fun with friends.
