Situated in western central Germany is the once industrial town of Bottrop. Whilst Bottrop is still home to some heavy industry, the town has made the most of its history and its land and become quite the family attraction. It has turned its old spoil tips and industrial buildings into art installations and Germany's largest horror-themed attraction – Grusellabyrinth NRW.
Bottrop also boasts its own Alpincenter which has the longest indoor piste in the world – measuring 640 meters long by 30 metres wide, with an elevation of up to 113 metres. It even generates most of its own power, thanks to the large solar power plant.
At Bottrop Alpincenter, there's a mix of both easy and intermediate slopes, with two Sunkid moving carpets providing access to the main slopes and a tow rope at the upper part of the slopes for beginners to use. This resort offers two snow cannons, a valley run, and a fun park with obstacles – with the chance to also do a spot of night skiing.
For those looking for something a little different, the summer months offer many opportunities and fun activities. Within the resort, you can try your hand at snow soccer, or get adventurous with some air jumping and skydiving at the indoor skydiving hall just next door.
With Bottrop being a family attraction, the town offers plenty of places to eat and sleep, along with plenty of amusement parks and museums. For outdoor skiing, there are plenty of resorts nearby such as Snow World Züschen, and Skigebiet Olpe-Fahlenscheid.
