More specifically in the Banská Bystrica region of the country, this resort is ideal for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities to hit the slopes. Elevations range between 800 metres and 1,102 metres, allowing for a varied amount of terrain to explore.
With 10km of slopes on offer, visitors and residents have plenty to explore. The resort has some of the best slopes in Slovakia, and have often been used for FIS races and professional skiing.
There is an excellent balance of slopes, with 2km classified as easy, 5km for intermediate skiers and 2km set out as difficult. This means that the resort has universal appeal, welcoming complete novices and advanced skiers in equal measure. In addition, there is a selection of snow cannons that allow for a 40% coverage of artificial snow to keep the slopes fresh. For first timers, there is a dedicated ski school to help get beginners up to scratch.
Considered a college town, Banská Bystrica has a lot of restaurants, terraces and bars for skiers to relax in, soaking up the culture and mixing with locals drinking Zlaty Bazant beer. This makes it perfect for après ski, although there are plenty of other venues for families to kick back and relax.
