Slovakia is a beautiful country in Central Europe, bordered by Poland, Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.
The country is 19,000 sq mi, most of which is mountainous territory and 41% of it is covered in forest, so you’re spoiled for choice in terms of outdoor pursuits.
The main mountain range system you’ll find in Slovakia is the Carpathians, among which you’ll find ranges like the Tatra mountains, the Slovak Ore mountains, the Beskids and Slovak Central mountains. So many mountains for such a relatively small country makes it a paradise for skiing/snowboarding enthusiasts!
There are 9 national parks in Slovakia along with hundreds of caves, rivers and stunning lakes.
The economy is strong, and the standard of living is high, so if you’re thinking of investing in property in a country where the ski areas are outstanding, and the country is thriving yet affordable, then Slovakia is the one!
There are 126 Slovak ski resorts to choose from. There is something for every level of skier, prices are much lower than neighbouring Austria (roughly a third of the price, for ski list passes alone!) and the ski season is pretty long.
