At the Toggenburg – Wildhaus/Unterwasser/Alt St. Johann ski resort, skiers and snowboarders can expect to be spoilt for choice, as they try to decide which is their favourite course out of the 60km of slopes on offer, and 14km of ski routes. There are 20 ski lifts that allow visitors and residents to travel round the resort with ease, whilst the resort itself is situated in between elevations of 900m and 2,262m.
Connecting the beautiful winter villages of Wildhaus, Unterwasser and Alt St. Johann, the resort lies beneath the stunning peak of Chäserugg. There are 10km of easy blue runs, 45km of intermediate red runs and 5km of difficult black runs for guests to enjoy here. This means that despite the emphasis being on the skier with adequate experience who is mostly used to red level slopes, there is also terrain suitable for complete beginners who are on their very first skiing holiday, and advanced skiers who wish to be challenged by punishingly steep slopes. The most difficult run is called the Warmtobel slope, and the Chäserugg Ost slope leads through an untouched valley and is astonishing for photographers.
For those who want to enjoy additional winter sports activities, there is also cross-country skiing, winter hiking, snow shoe trails and sledding runs. Not to mention the 14km of marked ski routes, which includes the 9km long Galfer route that has an elevation difference of 1600 metres.
