St. Moritz – Corviglia is quite frankly a monster of a ski resort, with over 155km of slopes and 8km of ski routes making it one of the largest in Switzerland. Skiers and snowboarders will be spoilt for choice attending this fabulous skiing area, with 24 lifts to traverse the resort that is within 1,720m and 3,057m above sea level.
The world-famous ski village of St Moritz is a testament to what a skiing paradise should really look like. The illustrious history of the resort began with a skiing pioneer by the name of Johannes Badrutt, who encouraged English tourists in 1864 to visit his beautiful St Moritz resort and not only enjoy skiing, but also get a rather nice tan. Since then, the Winter Olympics has been hosted in 1928 and 1948, and the FITB World Championships hosted a record 21 times.
With a reputation surely preceding itself, the resort is equipped with 42km of easy slopes, 79km of intermediate slopes and 34km of difficult slopes for guests to get through. There is a wonderful Snowsafari on offer at the resort which gives visitors and residents the chance to take in Corvatsch and Corviglia resorts, ending in the beautiful slopes of Celerina. Recommended slopes include the Paradiso, the No. 24 Selin and the Fuorcula Grischa-Celerina at 6km in length and an elevation difference of 1200m.
The resort radiates sophistication, and with a noted ‘Champagne atmosphere’, this is the place for luxury skiing and even more luxurious dining. Gourmet restaurants include Talvo, Da Vittorio and the K, whilst the world’s largest whiskey bar, called Devils Place, can be found here too, with a collection of over 2,500 whiskies.
