The Kaltenbach – Hochzillertal/Hochfügen (SKi-optimal) ski resort can be found nestled in the Erste Ferienregion im Zillertal area of Tyrol, Austria. It is a fantastic resort with a lot of charm. Fans of Austrian skiing will appreciate its 83 kilometres of slopes and 36 lifts to transport guests. The elevation of the ski resort is between 600 and 2,378 metres and with a whopping 400 snow cannons, there is plenty of decent snowfall at this height to satisfy both snowboarders and skiers during the winter season.
With easy slopes encompassing 28.7 kilometres, intermediate slopes covering 41.3 kilometres and expert slopes covering 13 kilometres, there is definitely more for the first-time skier at this resort. This also means families enjoy their time at the resort, giving children the chance to learn how to ski from an early age, in addition to this there are a number of ski schools located within the resort which aid in helping both children and adults in their early stages of their skiing journey. Novice skiers can head towards the easy and wide slopes at the Mizun lift whilst the more advances skiers head towards the steeper terrain. If you are a seasoned skier then the most difficult slope in the resort is the Valley run into Aschau, which is 11 kilometres in length. In addition to this there is also an extra 5.1 kilometres of ski routes available.
Once you’ve burned off all your energy on the slopes, guests can engage in some fine dining at Wedelhütte, a lovely restaurant with the highest wine cellar in Austria or even enjoy some après ski refreshments at the Postalm, where music and a lively atmosphere is offered throughout the night.
