For some wonderful skiing or snowboarding in Central Carinthia, Austria, winter sports enthusiasts can often be found at the Simonhöhe – St. Urban ski resort. Set within Mittelkärnten, this resort has 13km of slopes available, with 8 ski lifts to use when navigating the area. At elevations of between 990m and 1,340m, there is plenty of varied terrain for visitors and residents to make the most of during their stay.
With 8.5km of easy blue runs, the majority of guests here are usually skiing novices, but you will also find families and younger skiers enjoying their first experience on two skis. There is also 4km of intermediate red runs and 0.5km of difficult black runs to contentd with, popular with far more advanced skiers looking for a new thrill on the fresh slopes. In addition, there is a valley run at the resort, a snow park to practice freestyle skiing and artificial snow making capabilities in case the snow fall isn’t very good.
Local eateries and delicious food isn’t too far away from the resort, with places such as Gasthaus Winter, Landgasthof Reidnwirt and Gasthaus Wegscheide coming as recommended spots for a bite to eat.
