The Belchen, otherwise known as the Black Forest Belchen, is located in the Wiesental area of Germany. At an altitude of 1414m, it is within the five highest points of the Black Forest.
The ski resort itself offers 19.2km of slopes, between elevations of 700m and 1356m. There are 2 operational lifts, and easy runs take up 2km and 6km for the more experienced skiers. The resort is more intimate than most, but it more than makes up for it given its stunning location and breath-taking views.
At the Belchenhotel Jägerstüble, the menu is varied with Schwarzwaldvesper, hearty dishes, and a seasonal selection available. The Hotel-Gasthof Belchen Multen offers a menu filled with regional and seasonal dishes, specialities such as Black Forest trout, and the wine menu offers samples from the Markgraeflerland. The Belchenhaus offers some of the best views whist dining and is located in Baden-Wuerttemberg.
Locally there is a town (approximately 30 minutes’ drive) to Lorrach, which is certainly worth a visit if time is on your side.
