The ski resort Kolbensattel – Oberammergau is located in the Ammergauer Alpen Holiday Region of Bavaria, Germany and is only a short 1-hour transfer from Innsbruck Airport. Even though it is only a small resort with 8 kilometres of slopes for skiing and snowboarding and elevations between 860 and 1,276 metres, it provides something for everyone, from beginners to professionals, there is something to suit your level.
There is 7.4 kilometres of ‘easy’ blue slopes made up of wide groomed, mellow runs, including the slopes near the Schnitzlerwies and Altweg lifts which are ideal for beginners and younger children. If you’re after a little more of a challenge then the Kolben 2 run and the 0.6 kilometres of ‘intermediate’ red slopes are for you. There are 9 lifts to transport guests around the resort and to their slopes of choice as well as providing them with the opportunity to experience the outstanding views.
There are many après-ski options on offer in the resort, with mountain huts dotted around the pistes for those in need of a quick snack, or if you want a meal to re-charge your batteries then the Kolbensattelhütte is a very cosy hut that serves delicious food and local cuisines.
