The ski resort Fichtelberg–Oberwiesenthal is nestled amongst the German Ore Mountains in Deutsches Erzgebirge, Germany. Only an hour away from Dresden Airport this old spa town is located right on the German-Czech Republic border and is one of the most snow-reliable winter sports locations in the Ore Mountains.
Whether you’re a powder professional or a novice skier you will find something adapted to your level. With elevations between 911 metres and 1,215 metres there is a wide range of smooth and steep slopes to revel in. There are 6.8 kilometres of easy blue runs for beginners to practice their skills, whilst the more confident skiers can take advantage of the more demanding 6.1 kilometres of intermediate red runs. Ambitious skiers can also indulge in their passion till their hearts content on the 2.6 kilometres of expert black runs – the most difficult of which is ‘The Racing Course’ located under the cable car. The 141 snow cannons cover 75% of the resorts slopes ensuring great snow coverage throughout the winter season. Night owls will take delight in the face that this resort offers night skiing on 0.8 kilometres of floodlit slopes.
