The village of Frachey lies in the Aosta Valley, in the Monterosa ski region, also known as Italy’s own ‘Three Valleys’, which sits at the base of Monte Rosa - the second highest mountain in the Alps.
Frachey is a quiet charming rustic alpine village and lies just up from Champoluc’s main square. It is not spoilt by mass tourism and in this area, skiers can explore 4 different resorts - Alagna Valsesia, Gressoney-La-Trinité and Champoluc.
Champoluc and Frachey are the main departure points for skiers who wish to take a scenic route to Gressoney and Alagna in the other two valleys on the Monterosa circuit.
The elevation of the resort is approximately 1568m. The total slope length of the Monterosa region is 132km, with something for everyone, including challenging off-piste routes for more experienced skiers, with plenty of pistes for intermediate skiers, and nursery routes for beginners. In the immediate Champoluc-Frachey area, there are 27km of runs and a total of 17 slopes (4 blue and 13 red).
The area has a diverse range of ski lifts, including cable cars, chairlifts, a treadmill, and Frachey’s famous funicular which is open from June until September and will take you up to the village of St Jaques.
The Monterosa ski region is very family-friendly, and there are plenty of activities for children including playgrounds, inflatables, parks and themed hiking.
There are also many authentic local restaurants in the area, serving hearty Italian food, and wine tasting tours where the local wine from the Aosta valley can be sampled are highly popular.
