For a quick and easy skiing weekend or holiday, the ski resort Rosskopf (Monte Cavallo) – Sterzing (Vipiteno) is an excellent choice. Located in Eisacktal, South Tyrol, Italy, visitors and residents can make the most of 17.4 kilometres of slopes, between an elevation of 948 and 2,176 metres.
Skiers and snowboarders of all abilities are welcome here due to the high-altitude and diverse terrain, lending itself to a universal appeal in customers. Families, groups of friends and couples all make Rosskopf their regular resort, with an added bonus that there are 2 airports within a 1-hour drive as there is a choice between Innsbruck and Bolzano Airports. Slopes are categorised into 6.1 kilometres of easy runs, 10.3 kilometres of intermediate runs and 1 kilometre of difficult. This balance means that there is a lot to choose from for skiers with some experience who would like something slightly more challenging, but also for first-timers who would like a pleasant first ski. To further challenge the more confident skier there is an additional 5 kilometres of marked ski routes available.
A great selling point of this resort is the fact that it is home to Italy's longest toboggan run which is equipped with its own snow cannons and totals a whopping 9.6 kilometres in length. There are also specially prepared routes for hikers which offer amazing panoramic views of the surrounding region. The Rosskopf is a winter wonderland for skiers, snowboarders, tobogganing fans, and winter hikers.
