This tiny principality, landlocked between Austria and Switzerland, looks like something from a fairy tale. Only 25km in length and peppered with picturesque medieval castles and alpine villages, Liechtenstein is a beautiful ski holiday destination.

The main resort is called Malbun and it boasts 23 km of slopes (which is nearly the length of the entire country), most of which are easy and intermediate so this resort is best suited to families. In fact, Malbun was recently awarded the ‘Families Welcome’ Award by the Swiss Tourism Board as it has shown itself to have marvellous child friendly facilities.

Malbun is also where Prince Charles took the late Lady Diana in the 80s to learn to ski before heading to Klosters, the Royals favourite resort.

Liechtenstein itself is a mainly mountainous country and is incredibly beautiful, therefore making it an attractive place to visit all year round. Its mountainous terrain makes it a popular destination for outdoor pursuits, such as hiking and mountain biking.

With so many beautiful castles to explore, it’s a lovely place to spend time in the summer as well.
