Alta is a ski area in the western United States, located in the town of Alta in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, in Salt Lake County. Having excellent snowfall combined with some of the most diverse and challenging terrain in North America, Alta is a ski only mountain and one of the oldest, most popular resorts in America. Alta and its neighbour resort, Snowbird, offers a joint day pass and a joint season ticket, allowing skiers to fully access all of the terrain of both resorts.
Alta ski area has 116 kilometres of slopes - 29 kilometres of red, 46.4 of red, 40.6 kilometres of black and an abundance of off-piste powder lines. With elevations between 2,600 and 3,215 metres, this lift accessed resort if perfect for those who seek a major adrenaline rush.
For those who are after something a little different, snowshoeing provides a simple, cheap and easy way to experience the state's snow and mountains. If it’s relaxation you want, why not take a magical sleigh ride? These can be customised to long or short, group or private rides and come with or without a meal included. Whether you decide to visit a tubing park, or find a hill of your own, tubing is a perfect way to enjoy a snowy Utah day. Residents can even ice skate in the indoor or outdoor rinks.
