Opened by Robert Redford in 1969, Sundance, Utah is a resort that offers a balance of art, nature, community and of course, spectacular skiing. Summer brings a chance to discover the gentler side of Sundance. There are over 10km of alpine hikes, horse riding expeditions through beautiful Aspen groves to enjoy, and excellent fly fishing in the Provo river. If this sounds too sedate, there are over 25 miles of MTB trails to explore, and the famous Sundance summer zip tour, that takes in over 2,100 feet of vertical drop - the most in the whole of the USA. This is a great year-round resort for families too, with kids and teens camps throughout the summer season, where the magic of the mountain plays a part in creating unique experiences for all ages.
There’s ample opportunity to embrace the holistic approach to life that Sundance offers. You can enjoy mountain top yoga, take some time out at the spa, or simply bathe in the beauty of your surroundings. Creativity plays a big part here too, and there are classes in jewellery making, pottery work, journaling and painting in watercolor, oils and acrylics. There’s lots of options for casual dining too, like the Bearclaw Cabin, where you can enjoy burritos with a 360° views of Heber and Utah valleys, or the famous Owl Bar, frequented by Butch Cassidy in its former life in 1890s Wyoming, before restored and transported to a new home at Sundance Resort.
