For an amazing first-time skiing and snowboarding winter holiday in Austria, and a great way to beat the crowds is to visit the ski resort Kasberg – Grünau im Almtal, located in Almtal, Upper Austria. Consisting of 21 kilometres of slopes and elevations between 620 and 1,600 metres, you couldn’t ask for a more pleasant descent for beginners to get to grips with the slopes, right through to challenging descents and terrain.
A fantastic selling point of this resort - other than its amazing choice of slopes of course - is the fact that the majority of runs are north facing, this, teamed with a whopping 120 snow cannons ensure that there is amazing snow coverage throughout the winter snow season. Skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of 11 kilometres of easy slopes perfect for beginners, children can also have the time of their lives in Bruno's kids ski arena which has a wide range of beginner friendly equipment including ski lifts a ski school and a play area. For the more confident skiers there are 9 kilometres of intermediate slopes and 1 kilometre of expert slopes which will challenge even the most self-assured skiers. In addition to this, thrill seekers will revel in the fact that there is a designated snow park ideal for freestylers to show off their skills on its kickers, jumps, rails, wall and boxes.
A selection of rustic ski huts with sun terraces are the cherry on the top of this fantastic resort, the 8erl is a fantastic après ski bar which provides drinks, snacks and music whilst the Hochberghaus is a mountain lodge restaurant which can only be accessed by skis, boards and a ski-doo, so even getting here is an exciting adventure all in itself!
