Part of the Mürztal region in the Austrian state of Styria, the Mürzsteg (Neuberg an der Mürz) resort sits at elevations of between 1,220m and 1,460m.
Mürzsteg, which is also known as the Niederalpl-Mürzsteg resort, has a total of 12km of well-groomed slopes available for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy. There is also an extra 1km of ski runs. The winter sports area has a total of five lifts - one chair lift, three T-bar lifts and a rope lift - to transport guests.
The Niederalpl-Mürzsteg winter sports resort offers a good mix of beginner and advanced trails, as well as a valley run. It also has a snow sports academy, offering courses in both skiing and snowboarding.
For more advanced skiers looking for a challenge, the nearby resort of Skiing Brunnalm-Hohe Veitsch, also located in the Mürztal region, has 2.2km of black runs available. Other nearby resorts, Annerlbauer-Krieglach and Oswaldbauerlift- Krieglach, are ideal for beginners, although both are much smaller than Mürzsteg.
The actual village of Mürzsteg is relatively small, with a population of just under 600. However, there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the surrounding areas. Popular dining options include Gasthof Schaeffer in Neuberg an der Muerz, which is about a 25-minute drive away from Mürzsteg. It offers diners a great selection of Austrian and European dishes. Another popular choice, but a bit further out, is Cafe Wein in Murzzuschlag. It's an ideal choice if you're in search of a good coffee and a casual breakfast or lunch.
