The ski resort Krippenstein – Obertraun is located in the Dachstein-Salzkammergut, Upper Austria and is often described as a hot spot for free riding. With over 12 kilometres of diverse slopes, visitors and residents are lucky enough to enjoy elevations between 609 and 2,109 metres, with these elevation ranges the Krippenstein – Obertraun is the highest elevated ski resort in Upper Austria.
There are slopes of all difficulty levels ranging from easy pistes for warming up, and learning how to ski right through to more demanding terrain. The 5 kilometres of easy runs are perfect for beginners who are looking to try out their skis for the first time and 7 kilometres of intermediate runs provide some steep and exhilarating slopes for the more advanced skiers to challenge themselves on. There are no expert black runs; however there is an additional 30 kilometres of marked ski routes.

There is even an amazing snow park for snowboarding which offers a range of different obstacles for boarders to show off their skills.
There are a range of mountain huts and restaurants located around the slopes but the Dachstein Krippenstein Mountain Inn is particularly popular amongst guests, it is a cosy alpine hut where guests can dine inside or outside on the terrace with breath-taking views of the mountains and surrounding area.
