The ski resort Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is one of the largest in Austria, let alone the world, since it has 198km of slopes for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy, as well as an additional 16km of ski runs. It is rightly described as a ‘winter sports paradise’, given the size and sheer complexity of the resort, welcoming hundreds of thousands of guests each and every year. There are 39 ski lifts that guests can use to get to the various slopes, in between elevations of 1,200m and 2,820m.
The slopes themselves are vast, so visitors and residents are advised to familiarise themselves with the resort prior to staying. In total, there are 47km of easy blue slopes, 123km of intermediate red slopes and 28km of difficult black slopes. The longest run is called the Frommes which is 10km long and has an elevation of 1200m. The Baeran Slope is perfect for families with its gentle descents, and the Masnerkopf run and Lazid-North run are also runs not to be missed.
Another great attraction at this resort is the sheer amount of activities on offer, ideal for families and adventure seekers. They include a snowcat ride, an underground driverless cable railway, a skyswing, tobogganing and the Serfauser Sauser zip wire, running 2,000 metres in length, 85 metres above the heads of skiers below.
Feeling famished after so many strenuous activities? Have dinner in the amazing Crystal cube, that serves a sumptuous banquet at 2,600m above sea level, with awe-inspiring 360-degree views.
