One of the biggest ski resorts in Austria is Sölden, located in the Ötztal region of Austria. With a massive 144.2km of slopes to choose from, skiers and snowboarders will be completely spoilt for choice when deciding which slopes to try. There are 31 ski lifts to transport visitors and residents around the resort, which is situated in between elevations of 1,350m and 3,340m.
The high altitudes ensure snow reliability for the entire extended winter season, which is October to May at this resort. In fact, guests can access what is known as ‘The Big Three’ peaks of Schwarze Schneide (3,340 m), Tiefenbachkogl (3,250 m) and Gaislachkogl (3,058 m), as well as a Panorama bridge to experience some completely awe-inspiring views.
The slopes themselves consist of 70.2km of easy blue slopes, 44.6km of intermediate red slopes and 29.4km of difficult black slopes. This ensures a universal appeal at the resort, attracting everyone from young families to groups of pro-skiers looking to challenge themselves.
After enjoying the superb slopes at Sölden, guests are likely to seek out some great bars and restaurants to wind down for the evening. Visitors and residents are encouraged to try Gasthof Grauer Bär GmbH, Alpengasthof Grüner and the Wine & Dine A la carte restaurant.
