The ski resort Grosseck/Speiereck – Mauterndorf/St. Michael is located in Lungau, Salzburg, Austria. It is only a short transfer from the nearest airport and is a favourite ski resort for many with its wide range of slopes and many exciting activities to explore. It also has the reputation of being one of the biggest ski area in the Salzburg region.
In totality the resort boasts a fantastic 50 kilometres of slopes with elevations between 1,095 and 2,400 meters, meaning that fantastic snow coverages is ensured throughout the winter season. There are slopes of all difficulty levels ranging from steep slopes to beginner runs, the 26 kilometres of ‘easy’ blue runs are perfect for beginners who are looking to try out their skis for the first time. 17 kilometres of ‘intermediate’ red runs, the longest run is the Speiereck – St. Michael, which is 8.5 kilometres in length and is known to be one of the longest and nicest slopes in the ‘Lower Tauern’ Mountains. The 7 kilometres of ‘expert’ black runs provide some steep and exhilarating slopes for the more advanced skiers to challenge themselves, the most difficult run is the Gipelsteil Slope which is 1 kilometre in Length and is located at the Speiereck-Gipfel lift. The resort also offers night skiing on a 0.3 kilometre floodlit slopes which are open until 21:00hrs, perfect for those who find the skiing day too short.
There is a range of different restaurants and bars to explore around the Resort. With delicious food at reasonable prices residents can eat at the famous ‘Panorama Alm’ here you can enjoy excellent views of the entire Lungau whilst indulging in some delicious cuisine.
