Fans of Canadian skiing and snowboarding will be delighted with the range of slopes on offer at the Kimberley ski resort. Located in the East Kootenay Regional District of British Columbia in Canada, this wonderful resort has 80 kilometres of slopes set between elevations of 1,230 and 1,982 metres all served by 4 lifts for transporting visitors and residents. It is only a short 40 minute transfer from Cranbrook Airport and has the reputation of being British Columbia’s sunniest ski resort, with some of its largest gladed terrain.
With some astounding descents and ski runs, the resort has many wide slopes for those just starting out on the snow, along with some more challenging opportunities for those feeling more adventurous. There 15 kilometres of slopes classified as easy and beginners will be able to find their feet around the slopes on the North Star Mountain area. There are 35 kilometres of slopes classified as intermediate and 30 kilometres of expert slopes which are located around the Vimy Ridge and Tamarack Ridge areas. If it’s a real challenge you are wanting then you need to test out the most difficult run in the whole resort The Flush No 44 which is 1.1 kilometres in length. This means there is definitely more for the more experienced to take advantage of, although with so much to choose from, skiers and snowboarders of all abilities will be thoroughly entertained. If that’s not enough for you then Kimberley offers night skiing on 4 kilometres of floodlit slopes which remain open until 20:30.
The eatery options here consist of 2 mountain restaurants and ski huts which are both located at the base station of the resort. Montana's Cookhouse serves amazing Canadian cuisine whilst The Stemwinder Bar & Grill has a bar with a terrace and serves a range of beverages as well as providing live music for après ski.
