Situated in the breath-taking area of Jamtland, Are is Sweden’s number one ski resort. It boasts the title of being Sweden’s largest downhill ski area with over 91km of slopes, with elevations between 380m - 1,274m for skiers and snowboarders alike to get their fill of adventure.

Are consists of four adjacent skiing areas; Tegefjall, Are VIllage, Are Bjornen and Duved. These areas each bring their own terrain and are interlinked by 70km of cross country slopes and trails. There is also a regular ski bus service that is completely free for lift pass holders.

Are Village is home to Northern Europe’s greatest vertical drop with steeper, more challenging slopes, red runs as stimulating as any in the Alps and views of the breathtakingly beautiful village below. To suit those who are after a slightly slower pace, the slopes in Are Bjornen, situated just 5km east of Are Village, are perfect for children and beginners to get to grips with. Valle’s Ski School, with its outstanding reputation, provides the opportunity for both children and adults to improve their skills and become more confident and safer skiers.

During the winter months, residents can also enjoy night skiing situated in Are Bjornen and Are Village. These slopes are lit with world class floodlights and with a little sprinkle of luck, the Northern Lights can be seen as a welcomed bonus.

For visitors who are not looking to ski or snowboard, there are a wide range of other activities on offer. Snow mobile riding and kite boarding are available on the frozen lake or alternatively, for those wanting to relax and unwind, there is a spa at the holiday club as well as some fantastic shopping opportunities.
