An ideal getaway for the confident skiers can be found at the Red Mountain Resort – Rossland in the Kootenay Boundary Regional District of British Columbia, Canada. Only a 40-minute transfer from Castlegar Airport, there is a wealth of slopes to choose from which range from easy slopes for beginners right through to double diamond slopes for the adrenaline junkies.
The ski resort itself is naturally split into 3 different mountain areas, the Red Mountain, the Grey Mountain and the Granite Mountain and consists of a whopping 120 kilometres of slopes all set between elevation ranges of 1,185 and 2,075 metres. Beginners can hit the slopes at the base of the Granite Mountain where they can get to grips with 20 kilometres of slopes with wider runs and smoother descents. For intermediates there are 50 kilometres of slopes to choose from, The Red Mountain contains quite a lot of intermediate runs such as Sally’s Alley, or head over to the Grey Mountain to tackle slopes such as Cory’s run or Juiced. Expert skiers can access 50 kilometres of slopes which can be found throughout the resort on all 3 mountains however the Granite Mountain contains the most black runs including some double diamonds.
Tobogganing is particularly popular with high-speed descents to the valley on designated run, there is even a terrain park sponsored by Rockstar for snowboarders to show off their skills. For something a little less extreme, those that enjoy hiking can experience the breath-taking panoramic views offered on the Adventure Paths. At the end of a long day on the slopes, why not wind down with a hot chocolate at some of the many cafe located throughout the resort of grab a meal at the Wiener Takes All restaurant. With fantastic skiing and a wealth of amenities at hand, it is obvious to see why this resort is perfect choice for a winter holiday.
